Let the Revelry Begin: Prime Properties finalizes the Libertine Public House on Stephen Avenue in Calgary

Prime Properties has once again contributed to the modernization of an important building on a vibrant Canadian street: downtown Calgary’s prominent Stephen Avenue. Prime Properties President Karsten Rumpf is proud to present the renovated building, a project completed by his son, Richard Rumpf. The building is located at 223-8th Ave SW on Stephen Avenue Walk, and is home to the newly opened bar and restaurant, the Libertine Public House.

The bustling Stephen Avenue Walk extends along 8th Ave SW (Stephen Avenue) from 1st St SE to 4th St SW. At peak times, between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors per hour are drawn to the diverse cultural activity of the avenue which includes live musical performances, buskers, festivals, artists and more.

Eighth Avenue boasts nine major shopping centres/department stores, an eclectic mix of boutiques and galleries and some of Calgary's finest restaurants, pubs, cafés and bars. Stephen Avenue Walk is managed daily from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm by the Calgary Downtown Association on behalf of the City of Calgary.

Prime Properties paid for base building work, including partial demolition, a new façade and a new air conditioning system. These modifications allowed Prime Properties to attract an ideal tenant, The Libertine Public House. The building will also house a second restaurant in the basement.

The owners of The Libertine Public House are seasoned restaurateurs and business owners they also own the long-standing and successful pub, The Unicorn, also situated on Stephen Avenue. The Libertine House is sure to have a positive impact on the Avenue.

Prime Properties, which still owns more than 90% of its original acquisitions, is committed to its new building on Stephen Avenue and has signed a 15-year lease with the operators of The Libertine House.

This building is the newest addition to many properties acquired, renovated and maintained by Prime Properties in the downtown areas of Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and other international cities. Just as Prime Properties contributed to the modernization of Montreal’s Sainte-Catherine Street and Toronto’s Yonge Street, this revitalized building on Stephen Avenue is a welcome addition to one of the most important streets in Calgary.
